Josh & Nisha

When NOLA meets Kerala...

On a daily basis at work for well over a year, Josh would go out of his way to refill his water from the kitchen across the office opposed to the water cooler right near his desk. The reason? Nisha worked in the same office and sat next to the kitchen. This provided the perfect opportunity for Josh to bother Nisha constantly with chats that eventually led to Nisha realizing he was in fact, very interested in getting to know her more.

The first couple months of dating included a choreographed dance of coming to and from work so no one would be suspicious of the two. Even the best laid plans are no match for Nisha’s enthusiasm as the charade finally came to a crashing end when she unexpectedly and loudly outed them to all of their coworkers at a post-work event. During the years of dating, Josh has adapted to the spicy food at the Oommen household while Nisha has a new found addiction to latkes and rugelach.

It didn’t take long for Josh to realize how in love he was and to begin the process of finding the perfect ring. While there was some sleuthing and chatting with friends, it was ultimately Nisha’s browser history that did most of the talking on what to choose. A couple months later and the perfect time came for the proposal in late March of 2022. Again, despite the best laid plans of a well-rehearsed narrative leading up to the question, Nisha’s enthusiasm got the better of her when she asked mid-speech, “wait, are you proposing?”

Yes. Yes, he was. Since then, the two have been enjoying their engagement with friends, family, and wedding vendors. They spend their time traveling, eating, and having a couple glasses of wine too many. Even without any grand event, a good night on the couch with delivery food, a movie, and late night discussions about their future is their current weekend ritual.

The easiest decision after proposing to Nisha was finding the right location for the wedding... New Orleans, which is Josh's beloved hometown. Josh and Nisha can't wait to celebrate with all of their friends and family in the Big Easy!

Q&A

What is the dress code?

Black Tie preferred, Formal required.

Essentially, we want everyone to dress to impress as well as look and feel their best!

Can I bring a plus one?

You are welcome to bring a guest as your plus one. If you plan to do so, please ensure you RSVP for both you and your guest.

Can I bring my children?

While we love all of your little ones, this is an adult-only celebration. The only exception are those children in our Bridal Party and immediate family members. We appreciate you taking prior arrangements so you can celebrate with us!

How is New Orleans weather in October?

Weather is typically 65 to 80 degrees. While the daytime will still be warm and pleasant, nighttime will start to get cooler, so if you plan on being outside, longer sleeves and jackets are recommended.

Will there be transportation/hotel accommodations?

Transportation will be provided between the Sheraton New Orleans and il Mercato starting 45 minutes prior to the ceremony and immediately after the reception. You do not need a room at the Sheraton to use the shuttles. For those wishing to join us for some late night fun, we will have additional transportation from the venue to the after party. To get back to your hotel from the after party... good luck lol

For anyone wishing to arrange their own transportation, there is a dedicated parking lot directly across the street from the venue. We recommend Ubers/Lyfts which is easily accessible and affordable in New Orleans.

As for accommodations, we have hotel blocks at Sheraton, The Roosevelt and Hotel Fontenot (please refer to Accommodations page). We suggest booking through these hotels or any hotel/Airbnb in the Garden District (venue is located in this district), French Quarter or Marigny district.

What if I have a dietary restriction(s)?

While we have plenty of options available with traditional and New Orleans-inspired food, if you need anything special, please reach out to Josh (millerjosh6@gmail.com) so we can meet your needs.

Should I bring a gift to the wedding?

While we would be grateful for anything you bring, this is a "destination" wedding and would prefer items/gifts sent to our home in New York. We also have a registry where you can help us form long lasting memories by contributing to unique experiences for our Honeymoon.
